Wednesday’s Wonder: Colorama in Serbia

This Wednesday’s Wonder: Colorama in Belgrade, Serbia.

“I dunno,” I said, staring at my shoes, “I just like Serbia” I said in response to my husband’s very important question: “Why do you like Serbia?”

Even now, reading journal entries and looking at photos, I still can’t pinpoint why I fell in love with Serbia; why I would brave the overnight train just to see Belgrade all over again. Maybe it was our interactions: people didn’t smile, but it was still friendly. Maybe it was our experience: there were no trumped up tourist landmarks that people had to see, it was just Belgrade in its truest form, a real original. Or maybe it was this:

Sometimes you just connect with a place and it’s hard to explain why (or you can but it would take you hours). I’m the same with London. I’ve never been to Serbia but it’s certainly on my list. Lovely photo!

I have not been.
But I know what you mean when you describe not knowing why a place is so great. For me, it’s just a feeling. I can’t really put it into words, but I know by a feeling and how it makes me feel whether I love a place or not.

I haven’t been to Serbia and it wasn’t on my travel radar but now I feel like I need to start researching it. That’s a beautiful picture and I’ve seen pictures like it at some street in Portugal. I also know what you mean about liking a place so much it’s hard to put into words. My version of Serbia is Japan.
