Wednesday’s Wonder: The Strength of Boston

Boston Tribute A Tribute to Boston

About two months ago, the mister and I visited Boston. It was a chilly Valentine’s Day weekend as a we toured the snow-covered city, but it was a weekend we would likely never forget. We loved Boston for so many reasons. Chief among those was the feeling of utter admiration for such a historical city. Boston is essentially where America was born. It’s a city that has defined the red-blooded American as we know it. It’s a city with strong American values, a city that values the importance of education, family, friendship and most importantly the values that were defined by our own founding fathers of life, liberty and happiness.

When we heard about the bombing attacks during the Boston Marathon, we were floored. We noticed the exact places where the bombs occurred, places frequented by tourists and residents alike, places that hold so much history about the city and about our country. It’s an awful feeling to know that a building like the Old South Church that sat so benignly in our photos was also the scene of such terror.

True to American values, Boston has remained resilient after those attacks. From the first responders who braved their lives to save others to the runners and many volunteers who immediately gave back to victims by donating blood and to all those who did everything they could do to help, there is no other way to describe the values we hold so dear than through the actions we saw from the residents of Boston.

I hesitated writing this because I wanted answers to this tragic event. Even though the chaos has now somewhat settled, we may not get the answers we want. However, at least we have one answer we’ve known all along: Boston, you’re the toughest, most badass city we’ve ever had the fortune to visit.

Our favorite building in Boston was the Massachusetts State House. Its golden roof makes the entire building stand out, much like a beacon of hope. The mister took some time to show his sympathy and appreciation for Boston in the form of art as seen above. You can download the wallpaper below for your smartphone absolutely free.
