“Where are we going?” I asked.
“Yangminshan park. It’s a national park,” my husband replied.
“It’s a what now?”
“A park.”
“A what? A park? What kind of park?”
And this exchange went on for a good five minutes because for some reason, I’ve lost all sense of hearing.
We visited Yangmingshan National Park on one of our many visits. In all those visits, I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that Taipei is the food capital of the world (yes, it’s true and more on this later) and it’s scenic.
This guy can’t get enough of the view here. When my husband was younger, he and the family would visit Yangmingshan National Park. They would hike, observe the cherry blossoms and take in the view. Because it was so close to Taipei, his family used to picnic there from time-to-time. With the family dog in tow, they would make a day of it and then catch the remarkable sunset.
To get there, we took bus 260 from the Taipei Main Station. It takes about an hour to get to the park. We walked up and down trails that snaked through blossoms and around peaceful ponds. It’s like a sanctuary not too far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life. We were there to catch the sunset. To be honest, it’s probably one of the best sunsets I’ve seen. I can see why my husband wanted to share this childhood memory with me. Take a look. Let us know what you think:
A sunset so picturesque, we took a picture.
